Tahoe Swiss Village Utility Customer Information

In June 2024 TCPUD signed a purchase and sale agreement with Tahoe Swiss Village Utility, Inc. (TSVU) for the transfer of the two TSVU-owned water systems to TCPUD. This includes the Tahoe Swiss Village Utility and the Glenridge Park Water Company. The two water systems serve the communities of Tahoe Pines, Tahoe Swiss, and Glenridge Park Estates.

In August 2024, TCPUD signed an Operating Agreement that allows TCPUD to operate the systems before the official transfer. This allows us to become familiar with the system, make important improvements, and ensure a seamless transition. The California Public Utilities Commission must approve the official transfer of ownership. While we expected this approval prior to the end of 2024, we now anticipate approval and formal transfer will occur in early 2025. Until then, TCPUD will continue to operate your water system on behalf of TSVU.

New Billing Structure and Rate Information

TCPUD bills water customers monthly and sends a combined water and sewer bill. Once the transfer has occurred, new water customers will receive a single monthly bill for both water and sewer services.

TCPUD will bill all TSVU sewer customers monthly beginning January 1, 2025.  TCPUD will not begin billing for water service until the transfer of ownership takes place in early 2025. Once the transfer has occurred, you will receive a single monthly bill from TCPUD for both water and sewer services.

Water Rate Assistance Program

Customers With Existing Water Meters

We understand that some current TSVU customers have water meters. These existing meters are not compatible with TCPUD’s meter-reading technology. We will transition all TSVU customers to the TCPUD unmetered water rate. TCPUD will work with existing metered customers to replace their meters in 2025.

Customers Without Existing Water Meters

TCPUD is in the planning stages to install new meters on all unmetered connections in these two water service areas. Our Five-Year (2025-2029) Capital Improvement Plan includes this project, but we have not determined an estimated start date for installation.

Customers With Fire Line Service

Customers with separate fire protection lines will be transitioned to TCPUD’s private fire protection monthly rate, in addition to the monthly Unmetered Rate.

Accurate Billing Information

The TCPUD billing team is working to ensure customer records are complete. Records provided by TSVU during the transition period may have incomplete or incorrect billing information. It is the customer’s responsibility to review your first combined water and sewer bill. Contact us immediately if you believe there are any errors.

Chlorination

We understand that having a chlorine-free system is important to TSVU customers. We have no plans for regular chlorination in either of the two water systems. Exceptions may include emergency situations, or as mandated by the State Water Resources Control Board.
