TCPUD Celebrates Queenie Dunn Practice Golf Facility Ribbon Cutting
The Tahoe City Public Utility District is proud to announce the completion of the new Queenie Dunn Practice Facility, a revitalized short-game practice area featuring a new putting green, sand bunker, and turf areas.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the facility was held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 with TCPUD staff and community members.
The facility is named in honor of May "Queenie" Dunn, the first female golf course designer and golf professional. In 1918, Queenie designed and supervised the layout of the Tahoe Tavern Golf Course, which is now the Tahoe City Golf Course, and served as its resident golf pro and manager.
“This new facility will serve golfers of all levels for years to come,” said TCPUD Board President Elle Beals. “The completion of the Queenie Dunn Practice Facility enhances our local golf experience while honoring the legacy of an important figure in Tahoe City’s history.”
This project was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Northern California Golf Association, the Tahoe City Recreation Association, the Patty Sheehan Foundation, the Scoville Family, Tim Longo, and Matt Daniels.
